Health Office News - March

News from the Nurse - March 2016

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

The School Health Advisory Committee, originally scheduled for Feb. 8 has been rescheduled due to the hazardous weather of Feb. 8. The new date is Monday March 7 at 6:00 PM. It will be held in the Kittredge SPED conference room.  This district wide committee includes representatives from physical education, food service, nursing, administration, as well as parents, guardians and students to consider general health related concerns of the student body. In the past we have written the district’s School Wellness Policy as well as recommended changes to the WRHS water bottle policy. Parents, guardians and students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Parents and guardians of ninth graders are reminded to send in a recent physical exam report before the start of school in September.  This should include an updated immunization report. The Department of Public Health requires families to provide the school nurse with a physical exam report upon entrance to Kindergarten, 4th, 7th and 10th grade.

The school nurse is in the process of completing mandated screenings of the ninth graders including hearing, vision, ht/wt and postural checks. You will be notified by mail if your child does not pass one of the screenings.

Please inform the school nurse of any changes to your student’s health including any new diagnosis, injury or medications taken regularly at home.

Sincerely,

Phoebe Bushway RN MS NCSN
