Summer reading is required for all students who will be taking college preparatory English in the fall. If your child is not
taking college preparatory English, he/she is still encouraged to read one of the books and complete the assignment; extra
credit will be given for it. The assignment is to read either Define Normal by Julie Anne Peters, or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the NightTime*
by Mark Haddon. We recommend purchasing the book of choice as essays will be written using the novel in the
fall, but checking it out of a library is an option as well. (*includes some harsh language) Students will receive the official assignment at Nessacus before leaving for the summer; it can also be found on our
website; go to schools – Wahconah - English Department.
